Hello Pipestone Area Schools community,

It is truly an honor and delight to welcome you to the Pipestone Area Schools.  As the new interim superintendent for the Pipestone Area Schools, I am excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! On behalf of all of the staff and the Pipestone Area Schools school board, I want to share how excited we are to welcome all learners back to school for the upcoming school year.

As the Superintendent, I am committed to the outstanding work in the district as we serve the learners and broader community of the Pipestone Area Schools.  As a team, we are committed to partnering with the broader community, the area businesses, the parents, families, and learners to achieve our school district mission to “Inspire life-long learners, build character, and prepare learners for their future.”  This commitment is consistent with the district vision of “Working together to provide educational excellence and support our students for their future.”  As we continue to experience increased changes and technological advances in our world, it is increasingly important we commit to educational excellence by ensuring each student is a critical thinker, problem solver, and life long learner for their future success. 

Throughout this year, I look forward to meeting with many groups, staff members, students, community members, and business leaders to listen and learn about the strengths of the Pipestone Area Schools along with the opportunities we have for improvement and growth in the district.  I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team of educators and support staff along with the school leaders and the school board to support the highest levels of achievement and personal growth for each and every learner who attends Pipestone Area Schools.

The superintendent is the chief executive officer of the district and is responsible for the management of the schools, the administration of all board approved policies and the conduct and quality of the district’s educational programs and support systems.

It is the superintendent’s responsibility to recommend policies to the board and when adopted by the board, implement, interpret and execute them. The position provides leadership and counsel to the school board in the development of the district’s mission and goals, provides professional support and advice to the school board on all matters considered by the board.

The superintendent also has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following personnel: executive director of teaching and learning; executive director of finance and business services; executive director of human resource services; director of communication; director of community education; director of special services; director of technology and the executive assistant to the superintendent.
