Hello! I’m Kaysee Slaba, and I’m proud to be in my third year as the Middle and High School Social Worker here at Pipestone Area Schools. I’m passionate about creating a supportive, safe, and welcoming space where students feel seen, valued, and empowered to be their best selves.
I grew up in the Detroit Lakes and Frazee, Minnesota area, where I practically lived outside — camping, building forts, swimming, boating, and soaking up every minute of outdoor adventure. Those experiences shaped my love for connection, creativity, and community.
When I’m not at school, you’ll probably find me with a good book in hand or redoing furniture — there’s just something about giving old things new life that I absolutely love. Fun fact: I have seven siblings, which means I’m no stranger to chaos, loud game nights, and a whole lot of love.
A few more fun things about me: my favorite animal is a penguin (because seriously, they’re adorable — who wouldn’t want to watch them waddle around in tiny tuxedos?), my favorite season is summer because I love the heat, and my go-to colors are black and pink.
I’m also incredibly lucky to be married to my amazing husband. He’s my biggest supporter, my best friend, and the steady, encouraging presence I count on every day. I truly couldn’t do what I do without him by my side. Together, we have two beautiful children — our son and daughter — who keep life fun, busy, and full of love. Our family wouldn’t be complete without our goofy golden retriever and our sassy Persian kitty, who both think they run the house (and honestly, they kind of do).
I chose to become a social worker because I grew up in a system that didn’t always provide the support I needed, and I knew I wanted to be that person for others. My goal is to be a consistent, caring presence for students and families, offering encouragement, resources, and a listening ear whenever needed.
I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this school community and can’t wait to meet more of our amazing students and families. My door is always open — stop by and say hello!
