Pipestone Area Schools Technology Department is committed to providing teachers and students with the most cutting-edge technology to make teaching and learning as easy and efficient as possible.

In November of 2006, the residents of the Pipestone School District voted to make technology a priority in the education of the students of the district by passing a levy devoted solely to technology improvements in the district.

To date that levy money has been used to put a SMART Board®in every classroom, build an ITV room for distance learning, update computers and network infrastructure in the district, and purchase several iPads for staff and students.

The Pipestone Technology Department will strive to keep the Pipestone School District the leader in classroom technology in Southwest Minnesota

I grew up in the small South Dakota town of Gregory, known mostly for its great pheasant hunting. Growing up, there wasn’t much else to do in Gregory. I graduated from Gregory High School in 1999 and continued my education at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. I began my education at DSU pursuing a degree in Information Systems but soon decided that wasn’t for me and switched to E-Commerce. After 5 years of college, I graduated from DSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in E-Commerce with an emphasis on Technology and minors in Computer Security and Computer Networking.

Upon graduation from DSU in May of 2004, I took a job with Austad’s Golf in Sioux Falls, South Dakota doing web development for www.austads.com. After a couple of years, I decided that web development wasn’t as challenging as I thought it would be. I was offered the Technology Coordinator position in Pipestone in November of 2005. I truly enjoy working for the district and implementing technology into the classrooms.

In August of 2006, my wife, Nikki, and I were married; we now reside in Dell Rapids South Dakota. She is a High School Special Education teacher for the Dell Rapids School District. During my short commute, I enjoy brainstorming new ways to integrate technology into the student’s educational experience.
