John Pollmann currently teaches vocal music to students in grades 5-12 at Pipestone Area School in Pipestone, MN. Mr. Pollmann graduated from Dell Rapids High School and then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. After college, Mr. Pollmann taught for seven years in South Dakota before accepting a graduate assistantship at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. While at NAU, Mr. Pollmann directed the Men’s Chorale and served as assistant director of the Chamber Choir and Shrine of the Ages Choir while earning a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting under the guidance of Dr. Edith A. Copley.

In addition to his work in music, Mr. Pollmann is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting upland birds and waterfowl, fishing the various waters of South Dakota, and hiking and biking whenever he is able. His love for the outdoors has turned into second career in outdoor journalism, and he is a frequent contributor to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, Minnesota Outdoor News, and Aberdeen American News Outdoor Forum, as well as magazines for Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl. In 2010 Mr. Pollmann was awarded the John Madsen Fellowship from the Outdoor Writers of America, and in 2013 he was named the recipient of the Wetlands Conservation Award from Ducks Unlimited - the organization's highest honor for outdoor communicators. This past summer, Mr. Pollmann received the Conservation Communicator of the Year award from the South Dakota Wildlife Federation.

Mr. Pollmann’s professional memberships include the American Choral Directors Association, Music Educators National Conference, the Outdoor Writers Association of America, as well as memberships to the following conservation organizations: Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Delta Waterfowl, and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.

Mr. Pollmann lives in Dell Rapids with his wife Amber, son Miles and their yellow Labrador, Murphy.
